The dream became reality. Seeded No. 5, and after defeating the No. 2 seeds Paula Josemaria and Bea Gonzalez as well as the No. 1 seeds Delfi Brea and Gemma Triay, Tamara Icardo and Claudia Jensen were crowned champions of the Betclic Premier Padel Bordeaux P2. For Icardo, it is the first Premier Padel title of her career, while Jensen returns to winning ways more than two and a half years after her triumph at the Acapulco P1 in 2024 alongside Jessica Castelló. Arturo Coello and Agustin Tapia, meanwhile, claimed their fourth consecutive title following victories in Rome, Valencia and Valladolid, defeating Fede Chingotto and Ale Galan after a thrilling final that ended 5-7 7-6 6-2. WOMEN Icardo and Jensen had lost all nine of their previous meetings against Delfi Brea and Gemma Triay, and the opening set also went the way of the FIP No. 1-ranked pair. However, their comeback in the following two sets was outstanding, with Tamara and Claudia conceding just two games to their opponents to seal a 3-6 6-1 6-1 victory and become the fourth different pair to win a title this season. 'We're very happy to have won our first title together', said Icardo. 'Personally, I'm exhausted but delighted after this match and after the whole week. We had been chasing this title for a long time, and this result is the reward for all our hard work'. 'I dedicate this victory to my grandmother, who followed me from Argentina', added Jensen, 'and also to my father, who is by my side every day'. MEN The men's final also went to three sets and was likewise won by the pair who had lost the opening set. Chingotto and Galan took the first set after four breaks in the opening four games, securing it with another break in the decisive game. The 'Chingalan' also moved ahead early in the second set before Coello and Tapia responded with three consecutive games. Chingotto and Galan then earned another break, but the set was ultimately decided by a tie-break, which went the way of Arturo and Agustin. In the deciding set, an error from Chingotto handed Coello and Tapia the crucial break for 4-2, paving the way for the 6-2 finish that secured the world No. 1 pair their 25th victory in 38 meetings with their long-standing rivals. 'It was an incredible final', said Coello. 'I felt a little nervous at the beginning and couldn't find the right position on court, so I asked Agus to help me. Then, by pushing together, we managed to raise our level'. 'It was a very tough match, especially mentally', added Tapia. 'After the defeat in Buenos Aires, we worked even harder to get back to this level, and today that effort paid off'.
Qatar Airways Premier Padel Tour returns next week with the Malaga P1. The season continues.
