Riyadh, July 06, 2026, SPA -- The International Center for AI Research and Ethics (ICAIRE), in collaboration with UNESCO and the International Research Centre in Artificial Intelligence (IRCAI), has announced the opening of submissions for the research workshop accompanying the Global Forum on the Ethics of Artificial Intelligence 2026. The forum will be hosted by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in Riyadh from September14-17, 2026, aiming to enhance international scientific participation and enrich global dialogue on AI ethics and governance. The center stated that submissions are open through two main tracks: scientific research abstracts and panel session proposals, with participation from researchers, academics, practitioners, policymakers, and students worldwide. This call coincides with the fifth anniversary of UNESCO’s Recommendation on the Ethics of AI, the only globally agreed normative framework in this field. Research contributions may address several themes, including the practical implementation of the UNESCO Recommendation, international cooperation in AI governance, ethical design and deployment of AI systems, policy alignment across sectors such as health, education, environment, and media, as well as future-oriented approaches to ethical AI governance. All submissions will undergo peer review, and selected papers will be published in a special issue of the Journal of AI for Sustainable Development (JAISD). The deadline for submissions is July 18, 2026, with the workshop scheduled for September 14, 2026, and proceedings to be published on October 31, 2026.
