Jeddah, April 26, 2026, SPA -- The Globe Roundabout in Jeddah has transformed into an 'artistic calendar' reflecting the city's major occasions and national events, including the launch of Jeddah Season and Saudi Arabia hosting the 2034 FIFA World Cup. Ahead of Formula races, the roundabout is adorned with shapes inspired by drivers' helmets, while it takes on a festive atmosphere during Ramadan and Eid Al-Fitr, displays green lighting and national flags during National Day, Founding Day, and Flag Day, and its lights are turned off entirely in solidarity with Earth Hour. The roundabout, inaugurated in 1982 and designed by Spanish artist Julio Lafuente, is a landmark embodying the Kingdom's openness to the world and its centrality as a link between continents. Makkah is positioned at the center of the globe with radiant lighting suggesting light emanating from it toward the rest of the world, affirming its standing as the heart of the Islamic world. The Globe Roundabout spans 6,915 square meters with a diameter of 94 meters, while the globe itself-standing 13 meters tall with a diameter of 26.5 meters-is made of glass and painted concrete.
