Saudi Arabia Chairs 13th UN-GGIM Arab Committee Meeting in Tunisia

Riyadh, February 06, 2026, SPA -- Saudi Arabia, represented by the General Authority for Survey and Geospatial Information (GEOSA), chaired the 13th meeting of the Arab Committee of Experts on Global Geospatial Information Management (UN-GGIM) in Tunisia on February 3-4.

The summit convened officials from across the Arab world and the United Nations to align on regional geospatial governance. Key discussions focused on the Global Geodetic Reference Frame and the Integrated Geospatial Information Framework (IGIF).

During the session, the Kingdom presented its geospatial maturity assessment, showcasing its global leadership in the sector. Other highlights included Iraq and Tunisia sharing their national implementation plans for the IGIF.

The meeting concluded with a call from the Kingdom to strengthen regional coordination and ensure that data-driven decision-making is supported by a unified Arab geospatial infrastructure.
