Dubai, United Arab Emirates, 21 April 2026: Dubai Culture and Arts Authority (Dubai Culture) will host a panel discussion titled 'AI-generated Content and Literary Plagiarism' on 23 April at Al Mankhool Public Library, in collaboration with the Emirates Writers Union, Dubai Branch. Writer Afra Mahmood and writer and translator Dr. Latifa Al-Haj will lead the session, addressing the ethical challenges emerging at the intersection of creativity and technology. The panel reflects Dubai Culture's commitment to fostering dialogue on contemporary issues shaping the creative sector. It will examine plagiarism in AI-generated texts, in light of the rapid transformations brought by digital tools and the increasing overlap between human and algorithmic writing. The discussion will also consider questions of originality and intellectual property, while highlighting the importance of adopting responsible practices that safeguard creators' rights and reinforce their role within the cultural ecosystem. Moderated by writer Salha Obeid, it offers an open platform for writers and cultural practitioners to exchange perspectives. Audiences will have the opportunity to engage with Emirati literary works and explore the role of local writers in strengthening Dubai's creative sector.
