The top four pairs in the world have all reached the semi-finals of the Pretoria P1, with two in the men’s draw and two in the women’s. Butfour other pairs will take to the court on Saturday from 1 p.m. local time determined to prevent Arturo Coello and Agustin Tapia, Fede Chingotto and Ale Galan on the men’s side, and Delfi Brea, Gemma Triay, Bea Gonzalez and Paula Josemaria on the women’s side from contesting Sunday’s dream finals.

In the men’s draw, the standout performance came from Javi Leal and Fran Guerrero, who defeated Juan Lebron and Leo Augsburger after a thrilling battle that ended with a dramatic 13-11 third-set tiebreak. The seventh seeds completed a remarkable comeback to win 6-7 7-5 7-6 and will now face Coello and Tapia, who defeated José Jimenez and Alex Arroyo 7-6 6-2. The bottom-half semi-final will feature Chingotto and Galan, who dropped a set before overcoming Juan Tello and Maxi Arce 6-3 1-6 6-2, against the tournament’s other surprise package, Juanlu Esbri and Sanyo Gutierrez. The Spanish pair have made the most of the vacancy left by the withdrawal of Franco Stupaczuk and Mike Yanguas and booked their place in the last four with a 6-0 6-3 victory over Alex Ruiz andJavi Garcia.

WOMEN In the women’s draw, Claudia Fernandez and Martina Calvo have reached the semi-finals in their very first tournament together. A 6-1 6-4 win over Marta Barrera and Jana Montes earned them a meeting with Bea Gonzalez and Paula Josemaria, who advanced with a commanding 6-1 6-1 victory over Marina Guinart and Ale Alonso. The second semi-final will feature world number ones Delfi Brea and Gemma Triay, who defeated Tamara Icardo and Claudia Jensen 7-6 6-4 and will now face Ale Salazar and Aranzazu Osoro. After making their debut together in Malaga, Salazar  and Osoro have continued their impressive run in South Africa with a 7-6 6-2 victory over Marta Ortega and Sofia Araujo, whose reunion tournament came to an end in the quarter-finals.
