Dubai, UAE, 27th Dec,2014: Fujairah’s quarry products industry is gaining positive attention from the GCC and beyond - with production expected to experience continual growth in terms of volume, rising from the current 100 million tons in 2015 to 145 million tons by 2019. The emirate expects to receive more than AED 25 billion in infrastructure projects in the coming five years; accompanied by an 11% additional residential supply to the emirate. In addition, the construction boom currently sweeping the entire region has played a large role in developing Fujairah’s quarry product industry, with a pipeline of construction projects that exceeds USD 2.5 trillion. All of these market dynamics have significantly boosted an already successful local industry.

The UAE is the world’s third largest exporter of quarry products, with Fujairah situated at the heart of current production- catering to local and regional needs. According to MEED Ventures Onsite, the total value of construction projects either planned or underway in the UAE is $549bn. Two major events, the World Expo in 2020 and the Football World Cup in 2022, hosted by Dubai and Qatar respectively, will support the growth in real estate and construction sectors - with further significant additional contracts from Kuwait; one of the region’s biggest quarry product importers. The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia is a key player also in the advancement of regional quarry product expansion with a commitment to invest another SAR 8 billion in Oil & Gas and retail in Fujairah specifically. This combination of economic factors impacting Fujairah’s quarry production is expected to increase operations by 8% annually for the next 5 years to meet growing demands both locally and regionally.

The construction boom is subsequently having a direct impact on the role of crushers - machinery designed to cope with the toughest quarry aggregates, completing a process vital to the exporting of quarry materials, thus impacting and expanding the role of crusher’s and their capacities in Fujairah. One of the companies meeting the needs of the market and supplying the quarry product demand is Fujairah based Oryx Industries, an industry leading Gulf producer of building materials, with a track record of excellence in the fields of supplying ready-mix concrete and the sourcing and transportation of high quality quarry products. Fujairah based companies like Oryx Industries are playing an important role in the growth and development of the UAE, and will continue to be vital in the future development of the region. In anticipation with increasing demand for building materials, Oryx Industries added to its capacities after acquiring Oryx Crushers early 2014. Since then, Oryx Industries carried out major enhancements to the newly acquirer crushers which included installing primary and secondary jaw crushers from industry leader Metso (Finland). This has allowed production capacities to reach 3mn tons annually. This expansion will give Oryx Industries a total production of 8mn tons per annum, about 8% of Fujairah’s total gabbro production in 2015. With a production capacity of 8million tons of high quality mined quarry products, and quarry reserves of more than 400million tons (sufficient for more than 40 years) Oryx Industries and their crusher capabilities looks set to be a major player in the future of Fujairah’s growing economy.
