Orphans' Fun Day and Back-To-School Initiative to provide school supplies, meals, and recreational activities, reinforcing du's commitment to community wellbeing and education
Dubai, UAE, 09 September 2026: du, the leading telecom and digital services provider, has announced its sponsorship of Dar Al Ber Society's 'Orphans' Fun Day & Back-To-School Initiative,' supporting a group of orphaned children aged 7 to 16 as they prepare for the new school year.
The sponsorship builds on du's existing partnership with Dar Al Ber Society, one of the country's most established charitable organisations, and reflects the company's broader CSR strategy to create measurable social impact across the communities.
Hosted at Mall of the Emirates, the event brings together 50 children selected by Dar Al Ber Society from among those in its care. Each child received a comprehensive school kit containing the essentials needed for the year ahead, alongside a structured program of recreational activities, nutritious meals, and additional stationery items to help them start the academic year with confidence.
The initiative takes on added significance as the UAE marks the Year of Family 2026, a national theme that highlights social cohesion, community solidarity, and the responsibility to care for every member of society. By supporting orphaned children at the start of the school year, du and Dar Al Ber Society are giving solid expression to the values that underpin this national moment, ensuring that no child begins the academic year without the resources and encouragement they need.
du employees volunteered at the event, distributing school bags to the children and engaging with them during the recreational activities, reflecting the culture of giving and community participation that du seeks to foster among its employees.
Hanan Ahmed, Chief Regulatory Affairs and Shared Services Officer at du, said: "Building a more inclusive society is integral to du's long-term vision and this initiative is an integral part of that commitment. Through our partnership with Dar Al Ber Society, we are ensuring that orphaned children have all essential resources to begin the school year ahead. We are proud to stand alongside Dar Al Ber Society in delivering lasting impact for the children who need it most."
Yousef Al Yateem, Assistant CEO of the Zakat and Community Development Sector at Dar Al Ber Society, said: "We are proud of our partnership with du, which represents an effective model of collaboration between national institutions and the charitable sector in serving the community. Supporting orphans holds particular importance in Dar Al Ber Society's mission, reflecting our commitment to providing them with the care, attention and opportunities that contribute to their stability and empower them to build a better future. This initiative demonstrates the positive impact of community partnerships in bringing joy to our orphaned children, supporting their educational journey and preparing them to begin the new academic year with confidence and optimism."
He added: "We look forward to continuing and strengthening our collaboration with du and developing joint, sustainable initiatives that help broaden our social impact and reach more beneficiaries, in line with the deeply rooted values of solidarity and giving within UAE society."
The collaboration with Dar Al Ber Society forms part of du's community-focused CSR programmes and reflects du's ongoing commitment to community investment, education, and the empowerment of vulnerable segments across the UAE.
