- Omar Al Bassam: “Investing in human capital is the true investment in our organisation’s future, and we are committed to ensuring that employee development extends beyond job roles to build knowledge and perspectives that keep pace with a rapidly changing world.”
- Eisa Al Beshaier: “We believe that a workplace that encourages curiosity, learning and knowledge sharing is one that can build more agile, future-ready and impactful talent.”
Kuwait, August 2026: Reflecting its continued commitment to developing its human capital and fostering a workplace culture rooted in learning and innovation, Ooredoo Kuwait — recognised as Employer of Choice and winner of the Best Employee Benefits Package at the HRM Summit & Awards — has launched “Beyond the Role,” an educational series designed to broaden employees’ perspectives, promote continuous learning, and provide teams with opportunities to gain new knowledge and insights beyond the scope of their day-to-day responsibilities.
The initiative reflects Ooredoo Kuwait’s belief that employee development goes beyond building role-specific skills. It is equally about empowering employees to understand the changes shaping the world around them, gain knowledge that supports more informed decision-making, and strengthen their ability to innovate, adapt and grow; both professionally and personally.
“Beyond the Role” serves as an interactive platform for knowledge sharing, bringing Ooredoo Kuwait employees together with leading experts and specialists from a range of fields. The series creates new opportunities for learning, dialogue and exploration beyond the traditional workplace environment, while providing employees with practical knowledge and tools that can be applied to both their professional and personal lives.
Commenting on the initiative, Omar Al Bassam, Chief Human Resources and Administration Officer at Ooredoo Kuwait, said:
“At Ooredoo Kuwait, we believe that investing in our human capital is an investment in the future of our organisation. Building a workforce that can navigate constant change begins by giving people opportunities to continuously learn and expand their knowledge. Today’s employee needs more than excellence in their role; they need to be curious, adaptable and open to learning, with the ability to understand and respond to the changes taking place around them. This is the thinking behind ‘Beyond the Role’; to broaden the horizons of our teams and give them the opportunity to gain knowledge and experiences that extend beyond their professional responsibilities, enriching both their careers and their personal lives while strengthening their readiness for the future.”
Al Bassam added:
“We are not simply building the skills needed today; we are preparing the talent of tomorrow. Through knowledge-sharing initiatives, we continue to equip our teams with the insights and ideas that drive innovation, support better decision-making, and enable them to meet the demands of the future with confidence and readiness.”
Eisa Al Beshaier, Senior Director – Human Resources at Ooredoo Kuwait, said:
“‘Beyond the Role’ reflects our belief that meaningful learning begins when we move beyond the boundaries of what we know and what we do every day. We designed this series to give our employees the space to explore new fields, ask questions, exchange experiences and turn knowledge into tangible value in both their work and their lives.”
He added:
“We want Ooredoo Kuwait to be a workplace where employees do more than simply perform their roles; they should feel that they are continuously developing and gaining a broader perspective of the world around them. When we give our people the tools, knowledge and confidence to learn beyond their areas of expertise, we are not only developing more capable individuals; we are building teams that are more innovative, agile and prepared for the future.”
To date, “Beyond the Role” has featured three interactive learning sessions covering topics closely connected to the rapidly evolving business landscape and everyday life, including sustainability, financial literacy and artificial intelligence, with sessions led by experts and specialists in their respective fields.
These sessions mark the beginning of an ongoing programme that Ooredoo Kuwait will continue throughout the year, providing employees with regular opportunities to learn, exchange knowledge and develop new skills beyond the boundaries of traditional job roles.
The series opened with a session titled “Sustainability in Everyday Decisions,” led by Yousra Al Mutawa of SEEDS. The session explored sustainability from a practical perspective, highlighting how it can be incorporated into everyday decision-making both inside and outside the workplace. It also showcased how different functions — including customer service, marketing, human resources and procurement — can contribute to more responsible and sustainable business practices, transforming sustainability from a broad concept into everyday behaviours and actions.
The second session, “Investment 101: How to Start Your Investment Journey,” focused on the importance of financial literacy in empowering individuals to make more informed financial and investment decisions. Led by Reem Al Mutairi from ZAD, Kuwait’s first digital investment platform of its kind, the session covered the fundamentals of investing, the importance of financial planning, and the role of financial knowledge in making informed decisions that support long-term financial goals.
The third session, “Mastering AI,” was led by Ahmed Bakri from the Kuwait Digital Academy. The session explored the rapid evolution of artificial intelligence and its growing impact on the workplace and everyday life. It provided employees with a practical understanding of AI capabilities and real-world applications, while distinguishing between the technology’s actual uses and common perceptions surrounding it. The session also highlighted key trends shaping the future of AI.
Ooredoo Kuwait will continue the “Beyond the Role” series throughout the year, with a programme of ongoing learning sessions covering a diverse range of topics aligned with employees’ interests and development needs. The sessions are scheduled to take place every Thursday, creating a continuous platform where employees can engage with experts and specialists from different fields, exchange knowledge and discover new perspectives.
By continuing “Beyond the Role” throughout the year, Ooredoo Kuwait is reinforcing its commitment to creating a workplace that encourages curiosity, continuous development and learning beyond the boundaries of employees’ day-to-day roles. The initiative provides employees with opportunities to expand their skill sets, broaden their perspectives and strengthen their readiness for the evolving demands of the future.
“Beyond the Role” forms part of Ooredoo Kuwait’s wider commitment to building a people-centred workplace where employees are given continuous opportunities to learn, exchange knowledge and develop new skills. The initiative reflects the company’s belief that organisations best positioned for the future are those that invest in their people, encourage continuous learning and create the space for employees to discover their potential beyond traditional roles.
