The initiative marks a significant step in preserving the UAE’s cultural memory while expanding access to its intellectual heritage.

His Excellency highlighted that reviving national publications forms part of a broader vision to transform the UAE’s cultural legacy into a dynamic and accessible knowledge resource, one that supports research, drives innovation, and connects future generations to their roots.

“Reviving national publications is an investment in collective awareness and in documenting the UAE’s intellectual journey,” he said, noting their role in shaping a cohesive national narrative aligned with the country’s development and achievements.

His Excellency Mubarak Al Nakhi, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Culture, affirmed that the agreement represents a key milestone in safeguarding cultural heritage. He underscored the importance of institutional collaboration in preserving the UAE’s intellectual legacy across decades and reintroducing it to future generations.

Al Nakhi added: “Through this partnership, we are establishing an integrated system that revitalises, protects, and sustains the nation’s intellectual heritage. This will support cultural and creative industries while strengthening the UAE’s presence on the regional and global cultural production map, in line with the ‘We the UAE 2031’ vision, which positions culture and knowledge as pillars of sustainable development.”

His Excellency Dr. Abdulla Majed Al Ali, Director-General of the National Library and Archives, emphasised that preserving national publications is a shared responsibility that enables future generations to better understand their heritage and the resilience that shaped the nation.

He added that the initiative will enhance collections, advance cataloguing and preservation systems, and ensure sustainable access to knowledge.

The agreement focuses on identifying, reproducing, and reprinting publications of historical and intellectual value, safeguarding them from loss while reinforcing national identity and promoting Arabic as a language of knowledge.

Aligned with the UAE Vision 2031 and national literacy goals, the initiative reflects the country’s commitment to building a knowledge-based society and strengthening cultural and research ecosystems.
