Qatar Polo Club Concludes Polo Elite Training Camp at Al Samriya to Advance the Next Generation of Players

Intensive two-day training programme delivers a structured experience for newly selected players

Doha, Qatar - 20 April 2026: Qatar Polo Club (QPC) successfully concluded its 'Polo Elite Training Camp' held from 17 to 18 April 2026 in Al Samriya. The camp brought together a group of newly selected male and female players for a focused and structured learning experience, designed as a foundational step in the development pathway for players and reflective of the methodology followed in teaching and practicing this historic sport.

Over the course of two days, participants took part in a comprehensive programme combining both theoretical and practical components. Sessions included riding assessments to ensure proper control and sound technique, alongside fundamental mallet training aimed at building core skills. Training in the Arena also provided a controlled environment for developing coordination, positioning, and in-game awareness, while match simulations allowed participants to apply what they had learned in realistic competitive scenarios.

The camp followed a progressive instructional structure that integrated classroom-based sessions with on-field training, ensuring a balanced understanding of the technical and tactical aspects of polo. This approach reflects the QPC's focus on discipline, technique, and a comprehensive understanding of the game.

The opening of the Polo Elite Training Camp was attended by Mr. Ashraf Abuissa, Chairman of Qatar Polo Club, who welcomed the participants and said that the camp marks a genuine beginning to the QPC's activities for the new season. He noted that the camp represents a community-driven initiative that the QPC is committed to organizing, alongside a range of sporting events and occasions that underscore the importance of sport in people's lives. He added that sound health is a source of human happiness, and that no one can truly be happy if they are unwell. He reaffirmed the QPC's support for the development of both male and female players' skills and also announced the formation of the first Qatari women's polo team. He said that the QPC is working according to a clear strategy to prepare and train the women's team both in Qatar and abroad until it reaches international ranking, as well as to support the participants in the Polo Elite Training Camp. He also extended his thanks to the QPC's team for their efforts in developing and strengthening the various polo teams across the country.

Commenting on the successful conclusion of the training camp, Mr. Fuad Al-Mudahka, Director General for Qatar Polo Club, said: 'Through initiatives such as the 'Polo Elite Training Camp, Qatar Polo Club continues to play its role in shaping the future of this sport in the State of Qatar through investment in player development. We aim to build a sustainable ecosystem that supports growth, nurtures talent, and positions polo as both a competitive sport and a leading cultural platform in the country.'

As Qatar Polo Club continues to invest in structured training programmes, talent identification, and community engagement, additional programmes and activities are set to be launched in the coming months to further support player development, broaden participation, and strengthen polo's growing presence within Qatar's sporting and cultural landscape.
